Facebook has been beta testing a work version of its social network for around years & it’s finally out. On Monday, Facebook said that ‘Workplace’ is live & out of its beta version. Workplace works almost exactly like Facebook, but instead of friends & family, users interact with a network of co-workers. Facebook’s enterprise customers will be charged a per-user subscription fee each month to use the product. Workplace will go against long-time workaholic’s favorite, Slack, which is valued at nearly $4 bn.
Here’s Facebook’s pricing model:
$3 per user for companies with fewer than 1,000 monthly active users
$2 per user for companies with 1,001 – 10,000 monthly active users
$1 per user for companies with 10,000 monthly active users
In comparison, Slack offers a completely version of its service for customers, however, its “standard” service, which has unlimited message storage & group phone calls, costs $6.67 per user per month.
