National service personnel across the country are set to demonstrate over what they describe as government’s inability to pay them the right monthly allowance due them.
The leadership of all service personnel across the country is considering a nationwide demonstration against the current NPP government over its refusal to honour the payment of the 60% allowance increment by the previous government effective January 2017.

The allowance of national service personnel was increased by the previous administration from the Ghc 350 originally taken to Ghc 559. The increment in the allowance is to take effect starting  1ST January 2017. According to a letter dated 19th December, 2017, all service personnel are to see a 60% percentage point’s increment in their monthly allowance.

Though the increment in their allowance is to take effect on the 1st day of January 2017, the January monthly allowance paid them is still the old Ghc 350 that they original take home. This according to the leadership of the service personnel is unfair and the government of Nana Addo Dankwa must of a matter of urgency retake a look at their stance to play politics with an issue of such magnitude.

According to a facebook post put up by one of the petitioners of “Increase NSS Allowance” group, when politicians decide to play politics with the allowance/life of the young Ghanaian youth serving this country, only the service personnel and in effect the youth of this country suffer and they will not rest until the right thing is done.

According to some credible information gathered by campus assistant, the increment in the national service allowance according to the current government led by Nana Addo will be looked at again and when need be; the unpaid allowance will be paid to the service personnel by March this year.

Some National service personnel have however vowed to hit the media space in order to make their grievances held even as the leadership considers the next line of action.
